Deceased Classmate: Patricia Kenady
Date Of Birth: 10-09-1950
Date Deceased: 12-31-2012
Age at Death: 62
Cause of Death: Breast Cancer
Classmate City: Tempe
Classmate State: AZ
Classmate Country: USA
Was a Veteran: No
Survived By: Pat is survived by her eternally grateful twin sister, Pam (Las Vegas); her niece, Kelsey (San Francisco) and older sister Diana (Las Vegas).

Born in Minneapolis, my twin sister, Patricia (Pat), grew up on a 13-acre Mink ranch in Minnesota with me (Pam, the quiet, bad twin) and an older and also younger (Barbara, PV ’70 grad) sister; enjoying all the country-life seasonal activities. In 1965, upon our father’s early retirement, the family moved to Tucson. Pat excelled as a high school and college student; as a software engineer she programmed everything from giant Mainframe computers to calculator microcode. As a successful award-winning field systems engineer for HP, she repeatedly lobbied management for a promotion to the computer sales staff; once promoted she won countless sales awards along with the big sales commission bucks. She always found time to help friends and family, readily offering her labor, financial-aid and computer expertise. She was my lifetime angel, and also continued to sing like an angel to the end with her soprano gift. Having lost our mother to ovarian cancer in 1988; annual checkups were a must. In 2001, Pat (and sister Barbara) was diagnosed with breast cancer. Pat tenaciously researched cancer treatments, as well as any known causes to help herself and sister Barbara. Since they were BRCA 1&2 gene negative; Pat was ultimately convinced that their pre-adolescent known profuse exposure to DDT insecticide (a known endocrine disruptor) on the ranch (that killed pet bunnies and kittens) could have had long-term effects; exposure that Pam and older sister avoided. Sadly there was no stopping the aggressive disease spread, both Pat and sister Barbara died of breast cancer complications in 2012. [Recent genetic testing for 81 known potential cancer-causing gene mutations showed twin Pam to have absolutely no gene mutations, she remains cancer-free. When will we start collecting better cancer-causing data, there is no real detailed info database to better learn from, just too many senseless deaths.] Pat and I always finished each others sentences; I miss her every day.

I will never forget the first day I met Pat when she hired on with Hewlett Packard in Phoenix Arizona in the early 70's.  As we worked together in support of our computer customers I learned to love and respect her.  I always looked forward to our company Christmas parties because it was then that I got to hear her sing; the most beautiful voice I've ever heard.  We worked together for approximately 30 years and ended up retiring from HP on the same day.  Today (Oct 9th) is the very day that she was born into this wonderful world of ours... so Pat, although I'm greatly saddened by your death, I want to wish you a very happy Heavenly birthday.  I love and miss you my friend.
